Seren Auth

A modern, fast and easy to use authenticator for two-factor sign in codes.

Part of Seren: free, carefully made, and built so you aren’t the product.

Time and counter based codes, QR scanning with the camera or from an image, Google Authenticator transfer codes, encrypted backups, and import from Aegis and andOTP. No network permission at all; setup keys are encrypted with the Android Keystore.

Features

Codes

  • Time based (TOTP) and counter based (HOTP) codes, SHA-1/256/512, 6 to 8 digits, any period
  • Steam Guard codes, including from Aegis, andOTP and otpauth://steam/ links
  • Large JetBrains Mono digits with a countdown ring; tap to copy (clipboard clears after a minute)
  • Optional hidden codes, shown only after a tap; search by service or account name

Adding accounts

  • Scan a QR code with the camera or from a screenshot or photo
  • Enter or paste a setup key, or paste a whole otpauth link with a live preview of the code
  • Open otpauth:// links from a browser; offer a copied setup link from another app in one tap
  • Scan Google Authenticator “Transfer accounts” QR codes; duplicates are never added twice

Backup and moving devices

  • Encrypted backups: documented JSON, AES-256-GCM with a scrypt-derived password key
  • Export as a plain list of otpauth:// links most authenticator apps can import
  • Import from Seren Auth, Aegis (plain or encrypted), andOTP, Google Authenticator or a list of links
  • Show any account’s QR code to add it on another device

Privacy and security

  • No network permission: codes are made on the device from the time and the setup key
  • Setup keys encrypted with a hardware-backed Android Keystore key, kept out of cloud backups
  • Screenshots and screen recording blocked by default; optional app lock before showing a setup key or exporting
  • The camera is only used to read QR codes; nothing is recorded
